Fans were commonly use by Native Americans in ceremonies, and as apart of their regalia. As herbs like sage was burned fans were used to blow the smoke to the people around, so it would cleanse them. As a dancer would dance fans were carried for honor and respect. As the honor beats would sound fans would be held up to honor ancestors and warriors. The wings may vary between turkey to eagle.
