Head Roaches were worn by warriors. There are a couple of styles which include the Woodland Round roach, or the Plain’s roach which included a tail of the roach. The most common material was hair from porcupines, deer, horse, and turkey beards. The deer hair on the roach would sometimes be died red indicating an enemy has been killed. Now, they are commonly used for dance regalia, and may include one to many colors known as rainbow roaches.
