Breastplates and Chokers were worn for protection mainly in hand-to-hand combat situations. They were mostly made of bone, shell, and beads. Men wore breastplate in a horizontal fashion, and women wore them in a vertical fashion. For women they were wore for protection over the womb in case they were carrying an unborn child. Now a days, they are worn as jewelry, or part of a regalia.
